The goal of my solution is to set up multi-level gardens in refugee camps to promote local food production by refugees. This would promote their sense of community and their sense of usefulness within a given society. It would also improve their access to healthy These gardens are particularly appropriate in the dry, non-fertile areas where the refugee camps are located and where the soil quality is not ideal for agriculture and the water supply is insufficient. These gardens are already in place in places like Ethiopia and Kenya, but are unfortunately not well known.It would be interesting to expand this idea to help people (not necessarily just refugees) who live in arid areas to help produce their own food and to facilitate access to food in general.
